Microsoft brings support for Google Assistant to the Xbox One

This week, Microsoft announced that it will be bringing Google Assistant support to the Xbox One with the upcoming update. Now, you can use the Xbox to control your smart home, text a friend, or even get directions to a new restaurant like Siri can. The Xbox One S will also be receiving an update shortly, adding digital output.

Microsoft has been constantly expanding the Home Hub in the last few months, and users who own the Xbox One can now use Google Assistant on the console. For those who own the original Xbox One, using Google Assistant will be a little more difficult, since you need to plug in a Google Home Mini to it, but you don’t have that option with the Xbox One S and Xbox One X, since they don’t have the Home Hub. This means that those who own the Xbox One S or Xbox One X can use Google Assistant on their consoles.

Last week, in the same way that Google has updated its Google Assistant app for iOS devices and when you’re using the Google Home, the Xbox One and the Amazon Echo, it was announced that Google Assistant would be coming to the Xbox One.

One of the biggest announcements Microsoft could make was today. You probably know that Microsoft’s Xbox One line of gaming consoles is very popular with the general public. Indeed, they offer people a great gaming experience at an affordable price. Despite stiff competition from Sony’s PS4 series, Microsoft’s Xbox One consoles are doing well. But what was missing from Microsoft’s Xbox One lineup has now been added. We’re happy to announce that your Xbox One now supports Google Assistant.

So now you can use the best virtual assistant on your gaming console. As for the Google Assistant integration, Microsoft will allow the assistant to launch games and apps, turn the console on and off, pause videos and more through the feature. Google Assistant is not available on Windows devices, so you’ll need to use the Google Assistant app for iOS or Android, or a device like Google Home with Assistant installed, to control your Xbox One.

Microsoft is currently testing this integration for a limited number of users. That’s why the company has announced a public beta of Google Assistant integration with the Xbox One. If you want to be the first to try out the feature, you can sign up for the beta now and get support for Google Assistant. Microsoft has also posted a full FAQ and installation guide on Reddit, which you can find here. Since Google Assistant made its appearance in the Xbox One lineup, hopes for Google Assistant on Windows have resurfaced and hopefully Google and Microsoft will come up with a solution soon.Since the release of the Xbox One in 2013 the console has received a few software updates, but one of the more noticeable ones was the addition of Kinect. The device was added to the console in order to provide voice recognition features to the game console. Unfortunately, Kinect’s voice recognition was always considered to be a bit off and aside from a few select games, most titles did not support voice recognition..
